Three illegal parties broken up; Police pelted with trash in Rotterdam

The police put an end to at least three illegal parties in Rotterdam, Beverwijk and Voorhout over the weekend. In Rotterdam, the party attendees pelted the police with trash through a window, according to AD.

Around 60 people were at a party on Oostzeedijk Beneden in Rotterdam on Saturday night, a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. "Inside it was really a terrible mess and open bottles and cans of alcohol were everywhere. Most everyone was very drunk."

Only a handful of attendees responded to the police's call to leave the building. Others hid in the shower, bathroom, and different rooms. "Appropriate violence" was used to break up the gathering, the police spokesperson said to AD.

Police officers also went to the Kanaalweg in Beverwijk on Saturday evening when various reports were filed about nuisance in the neighborhood. A 33-year-old from Haarlem, who was the DJ at the party, was arrested, Trouw reported.

The around 80 attendees of the party left without much fuss, with only the DJ resisting when the police tried to confiscate his equipment, according to the newspaper. He is in custody for questioning.

Early on Sunday morning, the police also responded to a party in Voorhout after receiving dozens of noise complaints. It took the police some time to find the location of the party, but they eventually tracked down around 60 people along the N444 near Voorhout, according to Trouw.
