Farmers announce new protest on December 18

Farmers in the Netherlands will hold more protests on Wednesday, December 18th. Exactly what form these protest actions will take, is not yet clear and will likely only be announced shortly in advance, NOS reports.

The farmers are protesting because they are upset by measures against nitrogen emissions taken by the government and provinces. Previous protests for this same reason caused massive traffic jams throughout the Netherlands in October.

Action group Farmers Defense Force met on Monday night to discuss possible actions, spokesperson Sieta van Keimpena said to NOS. She would not disclose details about what form the actions will take. "To prevent miscommunication and disorder, we do not want to say anything yet."

Van Keimpena did say that it will be regional protests - farmers will first gather at different place in the country, and at 7:00 a.m. they will together move toward the protest locations.
