Two killed as truck crashes into stalled car on highway; One badly hurt

A man and a woman were killed in an accident on the A50 highway near Heteren early on Tuesday morning. A truck headed towards Eindhoven crashed into the car where the victims sat at about 1 a.m.

The third person in the car was rushed to an area hospital. Police said he was critically injured in the crash.

Authorities said it in a statement released later in the day that it was unclear if the victims' car was was stopped or moving very slowly. "It is still unknown how this could happen," police said.

The 51-year-old truck driver, from Beek en Donk, was physically unharmed. No information about the identity of the three victims was released by authorities.

The police are still investigating exactly what happened. They have asked witnesses who were in the area around the time of the accident to contact them.
