Burning car filled with jerrycans crashes into Kerkrade police station

A burning car containing multiple jerrycans crashed into a police station in Kerkrade at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning. No one was injured, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

The incident happened at the police station on Kerkradersteenweg. The car crashed through the glass entrance of the station, according to RTL Nieuws. At least one jerrycan was on fire and the car may have been pushed into the station, a police spokesperson said to the broadcaster.

The fire was quickly extinguished. The jerrycans were filled with - presumably flammable - liquid.

At around 6:20 a.m., the police announced that a suspect was arrested. Whether this person was the driver of the car, is unclear.

The police station is cordoned off for investigation.
