Australian man found dead in Amsterdam hostel

A 20-year-old Australian man was found dead in a hostel on Spuistraat in Amsterdam on Saturday morning. The police are investigating the cause of his death.

Emergency services responded to the hostel at around 11:00 a.m. after a report that the man was unwell. When they arrived, the man had already died.

The police are investigating how he died. "The detectives take into account that the use of (hard) drugs may have played a role", the police said in a statement.
