ATM bombing in Venlo; 80 homes, hotel evacuated

A total of 80 homes and a hotel on Keulsepoort in Venlo were evacuated on Monday morning after an ATM bombing. The area around the ATM is cordoned off while the police investigate whether any explosives were let behind. No one was hurt, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

The ATM bombing happened at around 3:30 a.m., according to broadcaster NOS. Witnesses saw a scooter leaving the scene.

The Ministry of Defense's explosive disposal department is at the scene to investigate. Once they conclude that the area is safe, experts will be called in to check whether the building the ATM is located in is stable after the blast.
