Kids fish gun out of Amsterdam water

Two 12-year-olds who went magnet fishing on the Amstelkade in Amsterdam on Wednesday afternoon, pulled a firearm out of the water, the Amsterdam Zuid police said on Twitter.

The kids immediately called emergency number 112. Responding officers identified the firearm as real and called in forensic investigators, who took some samples and then confiscated the gun.

The police praised the children for their prompt action in calling the authorities, calling it a "good deed".
