Father accused of fatally stabbing son, 12

A 40-year-old man in Arnhem was arrested on Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 12-year-old son, Bekiro. Police responded to the scene Saturday morning to find the distraught father, and promptly took him into custody. He was later transported to the Scheveningen prison hospital facility, according to newspaper Gelderlander.

The man's 15-year-old son fled the house, according to local media reports. The boys' mother reportedly lives in Germany.

"The grief caused by the family drama that took place yesterday in Arnhem can not be expressed in words," Arnhem mayor Ahmed Marcouch said on Twitter. "We mourn along with the victim's mother, the brothers and sisters, grandparents, immediate family, friends and classmates."

It was the third time in 24 hours that police visited the location. Officers went to the house twice Friday night to follow up on calls to emergency services.

There was no need for police intervention at the first visit, and nobody was home when authorities visited a second time, police said.

The arrested man was expected to face a magistrate for a hearing on Monday.
