Man tries to abduct toddler, 2, at Haarlem market

A man tried to abduct a 2-year-old girl at a market in the Haarlem district of Schalkwijk on Tuesday afternoon. Bystanders overpowered him and rescued the girl, NH Nieuws reports.

The toddler was at the market at Schalkwijk shopping center with her grandparents when a man grabbed her and ran away. Other market visitors saw what happened and went after the man. The perpetrator was overpowered and the girl was returned to her grandparents. She was unharmed, a police spokesperson said to NH Nieuws.

The man was taken to a police station for questioning. His motive is still under investigation, but according tot he police he seems to be "disturbed".
