Multiple shots fired during manhunt for suspects in Zaltbommel burglary

The police fired multiple shots during a manhunt for three suspects of a burglary on Thorbeckestraat in Zaltbommel on Sunday. Two suspects were arrested, one of which was hit by police bullets in the leg, Omroep Gelderland reports.

The three men are suspected of robbing a home in Zalbommel at around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday. A 43-year-old resident was injured in the burglary. He sustained a broken jaw, according to the broadcaster. The man's wife and 15-year-old daughter remained unharmed. A boy who was visiting the victims hid away in the bathroom and called his father, who called the police.

When the police arrived at the scene, they fired shots at the suspects on the street, but the suspects managed to get away. They sped away towards the A2 highway to Den Bosch.

The police caught up with the suspects at De Lucht gas station along the A2 highway, where the suspects crashed their car into the guard rail. The suspects abandoned the car and fled further on foot. One of the suspects was quickly caught and arrested.

The police deployed a SWAT team and sniffer dogs in the hunt for the remaining two suspects. A second suspect, who had been hit by police bullets, was arrested after he asked a woman for a lift to Tilburg at De Lucht. She refused and called the police. The suspect was found in the woman's car. He had two gunshot wounds.

The third suspect is still at large.
