Cannabis raids hit 29 locations, netting 14 arrests

Police across the Netherlands raided 29 separate locations they suspected were tied to the illegal cannabis trade. Investigators took 14 people into custody, and they confiscated 1,600 marijuana plants and 2,900 plant cuttings.

Police also seized 14 cars and motorcycles worth €165,000, and €25,000 in cash. Computers and smart devices were taken in as evidence, along with tasers and conventional weapons.

The police action was meant to break up a form of organized crime that also relies on legal above-board services, like logistics, storage, housing, and finance. "Every intervention is meant to hit and disrupt these types of criminal collaborations," police said in a statement.

Buildings across Limburg, Gelderland, and Noord-Brabant were searched, as well as property in Belgium. Nearly 200 people from the police department, prosecutor's service, tax authorities, the Defense ministry and an investigating team in Limburg participated in the raids.
