NEO Blockchain Hackathon in Rotterdam, Delft this weekend; 500 NEO up for grabs

Calling all developers and coders! The Chinese blockchain platform and digital currency firm NEO is holding a hackathon in Rotterdam and Delft this weekend. Teams will be challenged to write smart contracts using the Golang programming language, with prizes up to 500 NEO - worth €7,100 at the time of writing - up for grabs.

The event in the Netherlands was organized by NEO, the Delft University of Technology and telecom company KPN.

“Delft University of Technology is one of the top tech universities in the Netherlands and worldwide. Together with Delft Blockchain Lab, we believe this hackathon will bring both knowledge and practices to local talents, which lays the foundation for further synergy,” NEO Global Development GM Zhao Chen told NL Times. “KPN has been working with us closely, and we are glad to have their support on the event again. Hope more developers will join us in this coding fest, and enjoy building more blockchain projects”

The hackathon will take place over two days and in two locations. On Saturday teams can register at the KPN Head Office in Rotterdam, where they will participate in a workshop on writing NEO smart contracts in Golang. A development sprint will start at 11:00 a.m., and teams can present their deliverables at 10:00 p.m. On Sunday the event will move to TU Delft. The final sprint will start at 10:00 a.m., and projects will be presented at 2:00 p.m.

The winning projects will be announced at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The team with the winning project will receive 500 NEO, worth 7,100 euros at the time of writing. Second prize is 450 GAS, worth around 2,000 euros, and third prize is 300 GAS, worth around 1,350 euros.
