Suspect in Best shooting dies in prison

One of the suspects in a shooting on Melde in Best early in June, committed suicide while in custody in the prison in Vught, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice and Security confirmed to Omroep Brabant.

Sources identified the man as 36-year-old Walter D. to the broadcaster.

The shooting happened on Monday evening, June 4th. A man was found injured on Melde. Another wounded man was found a few blocks away on Professor Titus Brandsmastraat. Both men were arrested. A third suspect was arrested two days later.

In July a court ordered a home on Melde closed for six months due to the discovery of multiple weapons and a large amount of drugs, according to the broadcaster.
