Hague mayor to meet with police, Prosecutor over politician's death

Mayor Pauline Krikke of The Hague is meeting with the top of the police and Public Prosecution Service on Friday about the death of PVV city councilor Willie Dille. "We will sit down an then look again at what the situation is", Krikke, who cut her vacation short and returned to The Hague after Dille's death, said to RTL Nieuws.

Dille committed suicide on Wednesday. Earlier in the day she posted a video on Facebook in which she said that she was kidnapped, raped and assaulted by a group of Muslims on March 15th last year - the day of the parliamentary election. She said that she had been threatened and that she feared for her life. Dille also said that fellow Hague city councilor Arnoud van Doorn is behind the rape. She ended the video by saying that she is stepping out of politics.

Krikke told RTL that Dille's death touched her deeply. "It is terrible when someone sees no other way out than to take their own life. My thoughts go out to her husband, her children, her friends and her faction members", the mayor said. "In conversations with me Willie Dille talked about a kidnapping, threats, rape. I always urged her: report it. I'm in the dark about why Mrs. Dille did not."
