Two found dead in Tilburg assisted living home; cause of death unclear

Two men, aged 33 and 43, were found dead in an assisted living home on Reinevaartsstraat in Tilburg on Saturday. The cause of the men's death is not yet clear, NU.nl reports.

The two victims were found in different rooms in the home. Paramedics responded to the home when one of the victims was found unresponsive. When the paramedics could not determine the cause of his death, the police were called in.

The second victim was found in another room while emergency services were still in the building.

The fire department investigated whether any toxic substances were in the air, but that turned out not to be the case.

According to the police, both men were known to use drugs. The Netherlands Forensic Institute is investigating whether this played a role in their deaths.

The home is run by foundation IxzelF. It offers sheltered living, assisted living and ambulatory guidance for people with psychiatric problems or mild intellectual disabilities, among others.
