Delft buildings again targeted in shootings
Gunshots were fired at two buildings in Delft city center during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Whether anyone was injured is not clear.
The police responded to Molslaan and Beestenmarkt around 4:30 a.m., Omroep West reports. Bullet casings ere found in the street. The extent of the damage is also unclear. Police spokesperson Dick Goijert told the broadcaster that there are "several bullet holes" and that at least two buildings were hit.
Early in May shots were fired at coffeeshop The Future and tanning salon Sunstyle on Peperstraat. A week later The Future was again targeted, along with coffeeshop The Game on Breestraat, around the corner.
Goijert could not tell Omroep Brabant whether these incidents are connected. "We're doing neighborhood- and trace evidence investigations and speaking to witness. Hopefully that will bring more clarity", the police spokesperson said.
"Incidents such as these logically lead to feelings of unrest", Ronald den Hertolg, a team chief at the Delft police, said to the broadcaster. "Our community police officers are in close contact with the residents and entrepreneurs. Residents and visitors of the inner city are asked to be alert and to call [emergency number] 112 immediately in suspicious circumstances. We take this matter seriously."
