Queen Maxima's sister Inés Zorreguieta dies at age 33

Those in the Netherlands in life threatening danger should immediately dial 112 for emergencies, and anyone suffering from depression or contemplating suicide can call 113 Zelfmoordpreventie at any time by dialing either 113 or 0800-0113, or by visiting 113.nl.

Inés Zorreguieta, the sister of Queen Maxima, passed away at age 33 on Wednesday. Dutch government information service Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst confirmed that she died in Buenos Aires, "presumably by suicide", RTL Nieuws reports.

Maxima's younger sister suffered from depression, and was often a source of concern, Koninklijk Huis reporter Sander Paulus said to the broadcaster. Inés was admitted due to anorexia in 2012 and 2016, but "it seemed to go better lately", Paulus said. "She studied singing and guitar and was an artist", he said. "She regularly came to Amsterdam."

According to Argentinian newspaper Clarin, Queen Maxima regularly tried to get Inés, who was 13 years younger than the Dutch queen, to the Netherlands. "It looks like they had a very good relationship", Paulus said, according to RTL. The fact that Inés was princess Ariane's godmother also shows that.

Inés was the youngest of the Zorreguieta children. Maxima also has two younger brothers, Martin and Juan, and three half-sisters from her father's previous marriage.

Afschuwelijk.
