Boy, 7, nearly kidnapped in Nijkerk supermarket; police seek witnesses
The police are investigating a report of a woman trying to abduct a 7-year-old boy from a supermarket on Amperestraat in Nijkerk on Saturday. "We are investigating exactly what happened and are looking for witnesses", the police write on Facebook.
The boy's parents also wrote about the incident on Facebook, warning other parents in the area to be careful, AD reports. The incident happened at a Lidl supermarket on Amperestraat between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
According to the parents, the boy was putting his children's shopping cart away while his parents paid for the groceries when he was approached by a woman they don't know. Two minutes later he came back to his parents, shaking and crying. "He told me a woman told him to go outside and help her with her groceries", the boy's mother wrote on Facebook. The boy pointed the woman out, who was getting onto a bicycle in front of the supermarket. The father went to talk to the woman, but all he could understand from her broken Dutch were the words 'beautiful child'. She cycled away in a hurry, leaving some of her groceries behind.
Lidl handed surveillance camera footage over to the police to help in the investigation. "Keep an eye on your children", the boy's mother ended her Facebook post.
