Netherlands the 6th happiest country in the world

The Netherlands is again in 6th place on the United Nations' list of happiest countries in the world. Finland came in first place on the World Happiness Report.

Every year the UN investigates the happiness level of residents of over 150 countries. The researchers look at, among other things, wealth distribution, trust in society and the government, the quality of health care, and freedom.

The average Netherlands citizen was a bit less happy over the past year than in the year before, but the Netherlands maintained its sixth position in the ranking.

According to the researchers, all the countries on the top of the list scored well in all six key variables looked at - income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom to choose for yourself, trust, and generosity.

The least happy country on the list is Burundi, followed by the Central African Republic, and South Sudan.
