Police search woods around Soestdijk Palace for missing man

The police are searching the wooded area around Soestdijk Palace for missing 50-year-old Edwin Takens from Soest. Takens left his home on Tuesday to go to work, and never returned. His car was found near the Paardenbos on Wednesday night, RTV Utrecht reports.

Around 50 police officers are combing the wooded area on Friday, police spokesperson Shirley Boonen said to newspaper AD. A police helicopter is also helping in the search. The police and soldiers also searched the wooded area on Thursday.

Takens is owner of restaurant Brasserie Bakboord in Almere, according to the newspaper. He is remarkably tall and has a shaved head. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark blue skipper shirt, brown outdoor shoes and may have had a brown Fjall Raven jacket with him.
