Grandson arrested in murder of elderly Tilburg woman, 83

A 23-year-old man without fixed residence was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of an 83-year-old woman from Tilburg. Several sources told Omroep Brabant that the suspect is the victim's grandson.

The suspect turned himself in at a police station on Tuesday night, according to the broadcaster. The police would not confirm that he is in fact the victim's grandson. "We only confirm that he is family, to remove some unrest in the neighborhood", a spokesperson said.

Local residents previously told Omroep Brabant that the elderly woman's grandson often visited her.

The victim had four children, but lived alone in an apartment on Jachtslotstraat. Her body was found in her home on Sunday, when her daughter came to visit.
