Graffiti vandal tags 17 NS trains, over €400,000 in damages

A graffiti artist tagged 17 NS trains while they were parked in Haarlem over the past months, causing over 400 thousand euros in damages. The police posted photos of his work online, calling on the tagger to come forward. If he does not do so by November 1st, the police will publish surveillance camera footage of him, the National Unit Noordwest said on Facebook.

According to RTL Nieuws, a significant part of the damage was caused because the graffiti tagger used paint that contains acid. Three trains had to be completely sanded down and painted again, making the unusable for a week and a half.

"Graffiti tagging is punishable, causes trouble for our travelers and costs a lot of money to remove", NS said to the broadcaster. The rail company is working with the police in the hunt for the perpetrator.

The tagger uses WAU as a signature.
