Storm warning issued for south, east of Netherlands

Thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected to hit the eastern and southern provinces on Tuesday afternoon, Weeronline expects. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow storm warning taking effect from noon.

The storms may be accompanied by lightning, hail and strong winds blowing between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour, according to Weeronline.

"Avoid open water and open areas, don't shelter under trees", the KNMI warns. "Follow weather reports and warnings."

The storms will leave the country for Germany during the evening. Afternoon temperatures will range from 22 degrees Celsius on the coast to 28 degrees in the east.
