Dutch family involved in accident returning from vacation; mother dies
A family from Eindhoven was in a serious accident in Serbia on Sunday afternoon, while on the way back from vacation. The mother was killed in the crash. The father and young son were hospitalized in critical condition. The daughter was questioned by the police as part of the investigation into the accident, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Dutch-Turkish family was driving near Belgrade around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday when the accident happened. Exactly what happened is unclear. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, a truck was involved.
Other family members are on the way to Serbia to support the family.
Eindhoven PvdA alderman Yasin Torunoglu knows the family and posted a message about the accident on Facebook, according to RTL. "I don't really know what to say... Something so terrible happening so close", he wrote. He wished the family strength in this difficult time and called on everyone in the Belgrade area to visit the hospital for "mental support". He also asked everyone still returning from holiday to "please drive safely".
