Family of murdered teen girl thanks public for support, love

The family of murdered Savannah Dekker took out an ad in local newspaper De Bunshoter to thank the public for al their support and love in the aftermath of the 14-year-old Bunschoten girl's death. They experienced the support "as a blanket of love for us and Savannah", the family wrote.

"We would like to thank everyone for the compassion, the cards, the hugs, the prayers and so much more. The municipality, the people, both schools, police, detectives, the whole of the Netherlands and far beyond", the ad reads. "It's so overwhelming and it's really impossible to thank everyone, so we hope to reach everyone through this ad."

Savannah disappeared after leaving her Bunschoten home on June 1st. Her body was found in a watery ditch on an industrial estate in the town three days later. She had been murdered. A 16-year-old boy from Den Bosch was arrested in connection with her death.
