Arson in Breda apartment building a case of domestic violence

A fire in a Breda apartment on Sunday night, seems to have been set during an argument between the residents. Investigators believe this to be a case of arson and domestic violence, the police said on Twitter.

The apartment's female resident was arrested, the man was taken to hospital. Prior to the fire in the apartment on Nieuwe Diesstraat, the couple was heard arguing, Omroep Brabant reports.

The involved apartment burnt out completely. And the apartment above it sustained smoke damage. Firefighters managed to save the rest of the building from any significant damage.

The police are investigating what happened.
