Savage prank: Wire stretched across road trips up two mountain bikers

Two mountain bikers were tripped up by a piece of wire spanned across a mountain bike path in Ommen last week, the police said on Facebook. Why the wire was placed there is unclear, but the police believe it to be a very dangerous prank.

Both mountain bikers escaped unharmed and are doing well, according to the Ommen police. "But it could've ended much differently", the police write on Facebook. The wire spanned over a mountain bike path near Waterschapsheuvel. It came from the fence of a nearby meadow.

The police warn mountain bikers to be aware of this type of prank. Investigating officers are calling on witnesses to come forward.
