Large Anish Kapoor steel statue donated to Tilburg museum
The De Pont museum in Tilburg will soon be the proud owner of a 6 meter high steel statue by world-famous artist Anish Kapoor. The statue is a gift to the De Pont Museum for its 25th birthday, Omroep Brabant reports.
Many people know Kapoor for is statue The Cloud Gate in Chicago. The statue is a photograph favorite for tourists, because it beautifully reflects the Chicago skyline.
It is not yet clear what the Tilburg statue will look like, as the artist is still working on it.
De Pont Museum already has several Kapoor works in its collection. Director Hendrik Driessen is delighted by the gift. "Kapoor is proof of the power of contemporary art and the role it can play in the community."
This statue will make Tilburg the first Dutch city to have an outdoor Kapoor work.
