Hypothermia possible at frigid King's Day; Dress warm says Red Cross

With a cold King's Day expected tomorrow, the Red Cross published a few tips on how to avoid hypothermia. Dress warmly, avoid alcohol, eat and drink something warm every now and again, and keep moving, the Red Cross advises.

Weather agencies expect that tomorrow will be the coldest King's Day since the 80's. The Red Cross advises party goers to be careful when drinking alcohol - alcohol will cool your body even quicker than the cold weather. Dress warmly, preferably in layers. If you're planning to sell stuff at the flea market, find a sheltered spot. Remember to eat and drink something warm every once in a while. And keep moving! "Staying in motion is always good against the against the cold, so keep feet off the floor", Eline Nijhoff of the Red Cross said to the Telegraaf.

Should you notice someone with hypothermia, take him somewhere warm and give him something warm to drink. Call professional aid if needed.

Red Cross volunteers will be at most celebrations throughout the country to provide help where needed.
