Two arrested in Arnhem armed robbery that left one dead

The police arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery in Arnhem on Thursday night in which one person was killed, ANP reports.

A spokesperson for the police would say nothing more than that a report of an armed robbery involving two perpetrators was received around 9:30 p.m. At the scene, officers found the body of one person. The police revealed nothing about the identity of the deceased person.

According to the Gelderlander, the deceased person is one of the armed robbers. The owner of Snackattack told the newspaper that one of his employees went to the address on Limburgsingel to deliver a pizza and found an armed robbery in progress. The delivery man fled when he heard gunshots. The victims of the robbery took the delivery man's van and chased after the robber, hitting him with the van. He died at the scene, according to the owner.

The police are being very hesitant with the release of information about the case, only saying that a large investigation is underway. The identity of the people arrested, or how they are involved in the matter, is unclear.
