Dutch PM Rutte calls anonymous job applications "terrible"

Prime Minister Mark Rutte is completely against anonymous hiring practices in the fight against discrimination on the labor market. In an interview with online medium VICE on Thursday, Rutte called anonymous job applications "terrible".

According to him, omitting name or origin on a resume will "not at all" counteract discrimination. "Anonymous application, terrible. Stop it already! That is the worst measure you can take. Such a terrible invention. Gruesome", he said, according to VICE. Rutte believes that a Dutch-Moroccan must "simply go through the front door" when looking for a job. If he is rejected, "go again and again, and you'll eventually get to work".

VICE also asked the Prime Minister about the study loan system. According to him, reversing the loan system is not an option. The VVD leader understands that some students are pressured by their study debts, but stressed that higher education in the Netherlands is very wel regulated. And to keep it that way costs money. "I would prefer that it was free, but that won't happen."
