Taxi complaints soar in Amsterdam city center

The Amsterdam police are being flooded with complaints about taxis, the Amsterdam Centrum-Burgwallen department said on Facebook. Most complaints come from the Amsterdam city center and Red Light District area.

According to the police, residents and companies complain about taxi drivers stopping wherever they want to pick up and drop off passengers. They park where no parking is allowed, on the sidewalk or simply in the middle of the road.

Following these complaints, the police are paying extra attention to taxis, specifically in the problem areas of Nieuwmarkt, Oudezijkd Voor- and Achterburgwal, Oude Doelenstraat, Oude Hoogstraat, Damstraat and Dam Square. And with result - over the weekend the police wrote out over 150 fines for taxi drivers.
