Body found in Amsterdam canal

A body was found in the Lauriegracht in Amsterdam on Monday afternoon. The victim's identity or how he came to be dead in the water is still unclear, AT5 reports.

The body was removed from the water with a stretcher. A tent was set up on the street for a forensic investigation. A forensic doctor from public health service GGD was also called in.

Around 6:30 p.m. the body was moved to the morgue, according to AT5.

The Amsterdam police confirmed the discovery of the body on Twitter. "Investigation into identity and cause of ending up in the water started. More information will follow later", the police tweeted.
