Pedestrian killed in accident at Amsterdam zebra crossing

A 47-year-old man was killed when a car hit him as he was crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing in Amsterdam-Noord during the early hours of Monday morning, the police said on Monday.

According to the police, it seems that the 59-year-old driver of the car did not see the victim. He was taken in for questioning.

The accident happened on Wekrtuigstraat. The victim died a short time later in hospital.
