Queen Maxima taught princesses value of money from early age

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's three daughters started receiving pocket money from the age of 6. The Queen wanted them to understand the value of money from an early age, she said in an interview with a street newspaper, which Trouw got a look at.

"Pocket money is important, it's actually learning money", the Queen said. It taught her daughters that they can't buy everything. She wanted her girls to experience "that ther is a limit to it: this is it, you don't get more. And if it goes wrong, you're parents won't help you." And according to the queen, this method is effective. "Sometimes they say: 'Mom I really want it'. Then I say: Yes, you could buy that with your money. Then it's: 'Oh, I don't need it anyway'."

The three princesses have their all have their own bank accounts in which their pocket money gets paid.
