Schiphol to build temporary terminal to cope with more European flights

Schiphol airport is building a temporary terminal in an effort to cope with a recent jump in the number of passengers traveling to European countries, NU.nl reports. Construction on the temporary terminal starts on Monday. It will be about 3,800 square meters and will be located south of departure hall 1. The temporary terminal will have 20 check-in counters, five security lanes, sanitation and seating. The airport expects the hall will accommodate about 2 million people a year. It will remain in place until end 2019, when the airport's new pier is expected to be done. Schiphol expects a record number of 63 million passengers to travel through the airport this year. In the long term passenger numbers are expected to climb to 80 million.
