Ex CDA minister to be prosecuted for assaulting model girlfriend

The Public Prosecutor is prosecuting former CDA Minister and KLM CEO Camiel Eurlings for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Tessa Rolink, a spokesperson for the prosecutor confirmed to NU.nl. According to the Prosecutor, no evidence was found of aggravated assault, but enough was found to prove "simple assault". Both parties were therefore asked to try and settle the matter in mediation. The Prosecutor may impose a punishment on Eurlings during mediation, such as community service or a fine. If Eurlings disagrees with the punishment, the matter will go to court. Eurlings is relieved that a long period of uncertainty is finally coming to an end, his spokesperson said to NU.nl. "The prosecutor suggests mediation in case Camiell Eurlings regarding simple assault, or domestic violence. Camiel Eurlings will cooperate constructively and willingly with that request of the prosecutor", the spokesperson said. Rolink accused Eurlings of assaulting her in July 2015, leaving her with a concussion, a broken elbow and many bruises. In July this year Eurlings pressed charges of defamation against Rolink. Eurlings was CEO of the Dutch branch of Air-France-KLM between 2011 and 2012. Before that he was Minister of Transport and parliamentarian for the CDA. He is also a member of the International Olympic Committee.
