Netherlands' home prices up 6 pct., biggest increase in 14 years
In August the prices of existing homes in the Netherlands were 6 percent more expensive than in the same month last year - the biggest increase in 14 years, according to the Land Registry and Statistics Netherlands.
The average price level for existing homes was at the same level in August than in June 2005. Though home prices are still 12 percent lower than the peak in August 2008.
The average price for a home amounted to just over 249 thousand euros in August. In July it ws 246 thousand euros.
A total of 19,975 homes changed ownership in August. So far this year a total of 132,910 homes were sold, an increase of 21.3 percent compared to the first eight months of 2015.
Home prices have been in an upward trend since June 2013.
