Justice official's home vandalized by anti-deportation group

The home of the director of the Repatriation and Departure Service in The Hague was vandalized during the course of Thursday night. An activist group called 'Sloop de deportatiemachine', or Scrap the deportation machine in English, took responsibility for the act, NOS reports. The facade of the woman's house as well as a camera was painted with red paint. No texts were found, according to the police. The activist group posted a statement online taking responsibility for the vandalism. According to the group it was done "to remind the director that she has blood on her hands". The group is against the deportation of asylum seekers. In the statement the action group call on anyone affected by the Repatriation and Departure Service to pay a visit to the director. "Or speak to her when she's cycling to work at 9:00 in the morning." The Repatriation and Departure Service falls under the Ministry of Security and Justice. The service is responsible for organizing the departure of failed asylum seekers, undocumented immigrants and other foreigners who do not have the right to remain in the Netherlands. According to NOS, it is unclear who is behind the activist group. In 2008 a website went live containing the group's name and the private details of politicians and people who work for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. All those listed on the site were in some way involved with the deportation of failed asylum seekers.
