Road rage fight leads to weapons discovery

The arrest of a 38-year-old man after he showed a firearm during a road rage fight led the police to the discovery of several other weapons, hand grenades and ammunition in a Rotterdam home on Monday. At around 6:00 p.m. on Monday the police received a report that a man had pulled a gun in a fight over a traffic situation on the A20, near the Prins Alexanderpolder junction. A description of the man and his license plate number were given to the police. Investigating officers identified the man by his criminal record, which also give an indication on where best tot find the man. The police went to several locations to look for the man, including a home on Struikhede. A man matching the perpetrator's description came walking out of the house a short time later. The police arrested him on the spot on suspicion of illegal firearm possession. He did not have a firearm on him at the time. The police then searched the house, which had four other people inside - a 39-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy and another child age 7. Officers found several weapons, hand grenades and ammunition. The weapons and ammunition were confiscated. Three of the four people in the house were also arrested. The 7-year-old child was accommodated elsewhere.
