Bart Smit, Toys XL to survive under Intertoys store name

Toy stores Bart Smit and Toys XL will soon undergo name changes, parent company Blokker Holding announced. Both stores will continue under the name Intertoys. Blookker thinks that one toy brand will better serve the customer, ANP reports. The intention is to change the name of the 234 Bart Smit stores in phases next year. Toys XL will happen nearer the end of 2017. The decision was made to continue under Intertoys as the chain currently hast the most stores - 301 including franchise stores. Once the name changes are complete, an online shop will be launched. It is expected that the name change will lead to a few dozen redundancies in jobs at headquarters. New jobs will also be created, with which Blokker hopes to keep most employees on. Employees of the toy stores were informed of Blokker's intentions on Tuesday after closing time, Martijn den Heijer of union CNV Vakmensen said to Nu.nl. He hopes for more clarity on what exactly this will mean for the employees soon.
