Knife wielding masked men rob Almere bus

A Connexxion bus was attacked and robbed by two masked men armed with knives in Almere at 00:30 a.m. on Wednesday. No one was injured, a spokesperson for Connexxion said to Omroep Flevoland. The bus in question was traveling on line 328 between Almere and Amsterdam. The two perpetrators got on at Wierden. They threatened the driver and tried to scare the passengers, according to the broadcaster. At least one female passenger was also threatened and told to stay down. She was unhurt, but shaken by the experience, a family member told NL Times. The robbers took off with an unknown amount of money. It is unclear whether they only robbed the driver of ticket money, or if they also robbed the passengers. Robberies on buses are an increasing problem this year. Bus companies in several cities, including Amsterdam, Tilburg and Breda, are hiring extra security and working towards making their buses cashless.
