Joint Strike Fighter to fly tour across the Netherlands today
Netherlands residents may be able to spot at least one of the brand new Joint Strike Fighter jets on Thursday. One or both of the jets will be flying a tour across the country, including the major cities and important points for the Royal Air Force, this afternoon, the Telegraaf reports.
The JSF, or F-35, will take off from Leeuwarden sometime after 2:30 p.m., according to the newspaper. It will fly via Nieuw Milligen and Soesterberg to Brabant. There it will fly across the bases Eindhoven, Volkel and Gilze Rijen. Then it will fly via the mills of Kinderdijk and Zeeland to The Hague and via Schiphol to Amsterdam, should air traffic control allow it.
The jet will fly at an altitude of 400 meters, so should be easy to spot. It will be followed by an F-16, from which photos of the tour will be taken.
