Escaped deer leads firefighters on chase across suburban Utrecht

A deer led Utrecht firefighters on quite a chase through Leidsche Rijn on Thursday morning, AD reports. Local residents called in the fire department after noticing the deer. The animal escaped its pursuers time and again by grossing ditches and streets. Firefighters finally managed to corner and catch it in a backyard on Kokardebloemlaan. The deer was handed over to the animal ambulance. As far as is known, it was uninjured. Local residents believe the deer escaped from a petting zoo in the area.
