Porsche 911 GT3 RS rolls bonnet-first into Amsterdam canal

In an unfortunate accident a rare and extraordinarily expensive Porsche 911 GT3 RS ended up with its nose in the waters of the Oostwetering canal at the Porsche Center in Amsterdam. The sports car, wearing the classic light blue and orange Gulf racing livery, was just fitted with new decals when things went wrong. The car rolled off the ramp and right into the water, according to the Telegraaf. It is unclear what exactly went wrong, or at what speed the car ended up in the water. But it does seem safe to assume that this was not what Porsche had in mind when it equipped the 911 GT3 RS with a "water-cooled" 4.0-liter engine. An employee of the Porsche Center told AT5 that the car luckily landed on a slope, and therefore did not sink completely into the water. "The damage seems minor because of that," he said. It may also have helped that the car's engine is located in the rear, and not at the front. "The owner was informed, he still needs to come examine the damage." The track-ready Porsche carries a base price tag of around 248,600 euros, and the Amsterdam dealership said this particular car was sold at 270,000. Ordering a new one is not on the cards, as the GT3 RS was sold out in October last year. The 500 horsepower car can race from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.3 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 310 km/h. https://twitter.com/DoglegErik/status/715117320973197312
