Police fire shots in high speed chase

The marechaussee, a policing force working as a branch of the military, fired several shots in a high-speed chase on the A9 and A22 on Wednesday morning. Three men were later arrested, ANP reports. A car was noticed driving at high speeds on the A9 and A22. The marechaussee stopped the car near IJmuiden for a check. The driver's license turned out to be fake. The driver sped off and turned of his lights. The marechaussee gave chase and fired several shots, but to no avail. The car disappeared. No one was hurt in the shooting. The police later arrested the driver, a 33 year old man from Beverwijk, in Zaandijk. During the arrest two other men tried to stop the police taking the men. The two men, a 23 year old from Beverwijk and a 30 year old from Zandvoort, were also arrested. The suspects were turned over to the marechaussee for further investigation.
