Contaminated chocolate Easter bunnies sold in Netherlands

Two types of chocolate Easter bunnies sold in the Netherlands may be contaminated with mineral oils, according to watchdog foodwatch. The bunnies concerned are Riegelein Confiserie 60 grams gold bunny, sold at Sligro and the Lindt 100 grams gold bunny, sold at Sligro and Albert Heijn. A study done by the German branch of foodwatch found mineral oils in eight of the 20 checked chocolate bunnies. No test was done in the Netherlands. "But they look exactly the same with the same packaging", foodwatch writes. The European Food Safety Authority believes the mineral oils may be carcinogenic, among other things. It is not clear how the chocolate Easter bunnies were contaminated, but footwatch believes the mineral oils may come from jute bags i which the cocoa beans were kept.
