Dutch ship to hunt human traffickers in Aegean Sea from July

The Dutch navy ship Zr.MS. Van Amstel was selected to participate in the NATO mission against human trafficking between Turkey and Greece. The ship along with some 150 soldiers will join the mission on the Aegean sea in July, Ministers Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert of Defense and Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday, ANP reports. The NATO mission focuses on tracking human trafficking networks and sharing the information with Turkey and Greece, so these countries can better act against this crime. The Van Amstel will not participate in stopping traffickers, but will provide assistance to people in need and take them to safety. "Human traffickers are our enemies, not asylum seekers. With the deployment of Zr.Ms. Van Amstel Defense is contributing to tackling illegal trafficking networks", Hennis said.
