Slippery roads, delayed trains expected today

Icy, slippery roads is causing a difficult morning commute in most of the Netherlands on Friday. A number of trains area also delayed due to frost on the tracks. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for slick roads for all of the Netherlands except for Zeeland on Friday. The slickness should disappear during the course of the morning, holding on the longest in the northeastern parts of the country. A number of trains are delayed due to frost on the road. Train passengers traveling between Amsterdam Central and Rhenen should take longer travel time into account, according to NS. The disturbance due to icy tracks is past, but it will take some time for trains to run back on schedule. In addition to icy tracks, other trains are also delayed due to other reasons. There are no trains traveling between Zwolle and Ommen, after a train derailed near Dalfsen on Tuesday. This problem is expected to be solved by Monday, and in the meantime passengers can travel the route by bus. Extra travel time of between 30 minutes and an hour should be taken into account. There is also a delay of 15 to 30 minutes in train traffic between Amsterdam Central and Rotterdam Central due to a switch malfunction. This disruption is expected to be resolved around 9:30 a.m.
