Slippery rush hour expected; Million kilos of salt spread on Dutch roads

Motorists across the Netherlands can expect a difficult morning rush hour on Thursday. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for slickness on the roads for the entire country. The Rijkswaterstaat worked all through Wednesday night and spread 1.1 million kilograms of salt on the Dutch highways to make the morning commute somewhat safer. The KNMI expects the slickness to melt away around 10:00 a.m. The northwestern parts of the country can expect some winter showers or maybe even snow during the morning, which will spread to the rest of the country during the course of the day, according to the KNMI. Maximum temperatures will be around 6 degrees. Friday will be cloudy, but mostly dry, with only the coastal areas having a chance of showers. The afternoon temperatures will be around 5 degrees.
